The IAMSAR Solutions team delivered another SAR Mission Coordinator (SMC) course to the Bahrain Civil Aviation Authority. In addition to the standard course curriculum, this is a special 4-week course that includes an additional week of practical exercises and simulations using our brand-new Search and Rescue Mission Management Software – IMSAR, developed in exclusive partnership with TechnoSciences Inc. of Maryland, USA.
The next stage is the development of critical thinking through a variety of scenarios where the students must come up with optimized search areas, tasking areas, and SAR patterns to address the specific conditions of each situation. This includes determining the proper track spacing for a Search and Rescue Unit (SRU) based on:
- Search object
- Terrain
- Weather conditions
- IAMSAR manual sweep width tables
- And more
Just like in real life!
