IAMSAR Solutions enjoys a very special relationship with the Latvian State Border Guard (LSBG). Primarily a border defense organization, LSBG was vested in 2018 with the responsibilities of performing aeronautical SAR operations from the Latvian Civil Aviation Organization. The Latvia ARCC was born and reached out to IAMSAR Solutions to know how to do it in accordance with international standards. Being our very first SAR Mission Coordinator (SMC) training customer in 2018, this paved the way over the last eight years to not only an ongoing relationship of excellence and trust between us, but also as a stepping stone towards our current status which is providing high quality SAR training in more than 34 countries.
We provide several courses each year to ARCC Latvia. Here, Mr. Robert Landriault, our Chief Training Officer, recently completed a Fundamentals of SAR (FSAR) course to new ARCC Latvia personnel. Students gained knowledge on international conventions, the search and rescue system, IAMSAR manual volume 2 and ICAO Annex 12, stages of a SAR incident, Cospas-Sarsat satellite detections, aeronautical incidents and search planning, rescue operations and more. This will prepare them for the more advanced SMC course as part of their career path.
