IAMSAR Solutions is pleased to announce that the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) has selected our company to provide a series of critical search and rescue (SAR) courses to its Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC) personnel. This is the culmination of active discussions for years between our organizations.
The RBDF works closely with RCC Miami United States Coast Guard (USCG) in the provision of a proper SAR response within the territory of the Bahamas. The RBDF personnel will undertake a series of vital SAR courses which include Aviation Fundamentals, SAR Mission Coordinator, Maritime Search Planning and On-Scene Coordinator. Each course provides specific skillsets which are necessary for any RCC to operate efficiently and fulfill its mandate under the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO). This newly acquired knowledge will yield more proficient SAR Mission Coordinators (SMC) and align with international standards and global best practices. It will also further cement the relationship with the USCG via a common language and adherence to official SAR publications like the IMO IAMSAR manual.
Our courses are delivered by highly skilled SMCs from Canada who themselves originate from the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Canadian Coast Guard. Featuring an impressive 295 years of collective SAR experience, IAMSAR Solutions sets itself apart as the #1 global provider of high-quality SAR training. This is clearly attested through our active presence which now spans over 33 countries worldwide. Our instructors will also use our revolutionary new RCC software IMSAR as part of the training to render an even more realistic experience during practical segments and simulations. All students also have individual access to IMSAR during training.
“I am extremely pleased to engage this new and close collaboration with RBDF. Our team will, as always, give their 110% to convey all their knowledge towards a single goal which is the betterment of the SAR system not only in the Bahamas but worldwide. The selection of our company by RBDF to execute this significant task is a direct reflection of our international reputation. We are very proud of this exciting association” said Mr. Jean Houde, CEO of IAMSAR Solutions.
“On behalf of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Floyd Moxey, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force is pleased to partner with IAMSAR Solutions in delivering this important series of Search and Rescue training courses to our personnel. These courses will significantly enhance our operational capabilities, strengthen our coordination with regional and international partners, and ensure that we continue to provide a professional and timely response to persons in distress throughout the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. We look forward to working closely with the instructors from IAMSAR Solutions and are confident that this training will have a lasting positive impact on our organization and the wider Search and Rescue system within our region” said Lieutenant Commander Livingston A. Brown, Search and Rescue Mission Coordinator, Royal Bahamas Defence Force.
Training is scheduled to begin in July 2026 delivered onsite in Nassau, Bahamas.
