The IAMSAR Solutions team delivered another session of training to the personnel of JRCC Den Helder in The Netherlands, as part of an ongoing contract. The Aeronautical Foundations course is perfectly suited for organizations who have an aeronautical SAR responsibility but may not be aviators themselves or understand the challenges and limitations of using airborne assets during a search. This course is akin to the ground school portion of obtaining a private pilot license.
Students learn about the theory of flight, propulsion, weather systems, reading aviation weather, flight planning and more. Our instructor extraordinaire, Mr. Robert Landriault, is a veteran helicopter SAR pilot with thousands of flight hours under his belt. Who better to instruct a course like this than someone who did it, often in marginal weather conditions and in difficult terrain? Best instructor for best training is our motto.
The JRCC Den Helder personnel now have a clear understanding of what the pilots must determine before a flight, the dynamics involved in launching an aircraft and the inherent dangers associated with it. Knowledge is power.
Does your organization need training? We deliver it onsite at your own location. Contact us for more details.
