Already in our 6th year of delivering top-quality SAR training to the personnel of JRCC Den Helder, our team is once again training the constant flux of new personnel at this JRCC. Here, another of our instructor extraordinaire, Mr. Daniel Chicoyne, delivers another 3-week tailor-made SAR Mission Coordinator course. Daniel is a retired pilot from the Royal Canadian Air Force with over 4,000 flight hours under his belt, all of which executed on no less than 10 different types of aircraft both fixed and rotary. Part of this course includes visits to pertinent stakeholders which are directly involved in SAR. Here, the students are visiting the fixed and rotary wing SAR unit to touch/feel the aircraft used in SAR and discuss with the aircrew, and also the marine unit to meet the crewmen and develop a closer collaboration towards saving lives. This is what a complete and effective SMC course is all about: what they need to know to perform their duties with the highest level of excellence.
